Description: American Equipment is the leading full-service
overhead crane and hoist manufacturer and distributor in the
Western U.S. The company has 17 strategic locations across the
Western U.S. and ships cranes nationally. American Equipment is a

customers’ overhead crane and hoist needs, including new and
replacement equipment, system modernizations, parts, preventative
maintenance and repair services and training. American Equipment

automation, mining, public utilities, government, aerospace &
defense, and energy. Position Summary: The Solidworks Electrical
Designer II will work with other design team members to ensure
projects are produced on-time to a high specification. We are
seeking a strong background in crane manufacturing to join our
engineering team. The ideal candidate will design and document
electrical systems for overhead cranes, including bridge control
panels, power distribution systems, and conduit layouts. This role
requires proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical (Schematic) and
AutoCAD, the ability to manage multiple active projects, and strong
coordination with vendors, production, and project management
teams. Design and Drafting - Develop detailed bridge panel layouts,
control circuits, power distribution, and conduit routing for
overhead crane systems. - Create accurate and complete electrical
drawings using SolidWorks Electrical Schematic and AutoCAD. -
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and
customer specifications. Project Documentation - Generate
comprehensive submittal packages, including schematics, layouts,
and component datasheets for customer approval. - Prepare
fabrication and installation packages for manufacturing and field
teams. - Maintain organized and accurate project files throughout
design and release. Bill of Materials (BOM) and Procurement -
Create purchasable Bills of Materials with appropriate vendor part
numbers, descriptions, and quantities. - Coordinate with purchasing
to ensure material availability and lead time alignment. - Review
and approve vendor documentation, ensuring compatibility with
design requirements. Vendor and Technical Coordination - Obtain,
review, and manage vendor documentation such as equipment
specifications, manuals, and certifications. - Collaborate with
suppliers and integrators to resolve technical issues and confirm
component selections. Concurrent Projects - Manage multiple
concurrent projects, maintaining schedule, scope, and quality
expectations. - Communicate effectively with mechanical design,
controls, and production teams to ensure design alignment.
Concurrent Projects - Support testing, troubleshooting, and field
commissioning as needed. - Learn, utilize, and implement continuous
improvement methodologies such as Lean, TOC, 6s, APICS, & 80/20 -
Responsible for directing or executing corrective action when shop
problems are encountered, performs root cause analysis - Follows
all ISO quality control procedures - Scan, file, and save all
documents pertaining to the job - Keep accurate time for each job -
Any other responsibilities assigned by Design Manager & Lead
Designer Additional Training to be Provided: - On the job training
pertaining to drafting and design of cranes Qualifications:
Required Education/Skills/Abilities - Education: Associate’s or
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical
Design, or related field preferred. - Experience: Minimum 5 years
of electrical design experience in crane, hoist, or heavy equipment
manufacturing environments. - Proficient in SolidWorks Electrical
Schematic and AutoCAD. - Familiar with industrial power
distribution, motor control, VFDs, PLC wiring, and safety circuits.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), UL508A, and relevant industry
standards. - Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. -
Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy. -
Effective communication with cross-functional teams and vendors.
Work Environment - Able to work in an office for extensive periods
of time - Able to travel to work site/traverse work floor - Able to
lift up to 50 pounds Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This
is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday
through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proof of right to lawfully work
