Camp Counselor Lead (Temporary, Not-Benefited) Position Summary The
Summer Camp Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations
of the summer camp program, ensuring a positive and safe
environment for campers and staff. The Camp Lead supervises
counselors, assists with program planning, and acts as a liaison
between the camp director and the camp staff. The Lead plays a key
role in the overall experience, making sure both campers and
counselors have the support they need to succeed. Primary
Responsibilities Support student counselors, ensuring they follow
camp objectives, rules, and guidelines. Act as the main contact for
counselors to address concerns and questions regarding
responsibilities and campers. Assist in creating and implementing
camp schedules and activities. Ensure all scheduled activities run
smoothly, with proper staffing and resources. Monitor student
counselors to ensure safety protocols are followed during
activities. Ensure proper supervision of campers during transitions
and activities, managing ratios and group sizes. Manage camper
behavior and address issues, guiding counselors on how to handle
specific situations or communicating with Camp Director if needed.
Respond to emergencies as needed, ensuring staff are properly
trained and prepared. Maintain clear communication with the Camp
Director and/or Assistant Dean of Students. Address any concerns
raised by parents, counselors, or campers to the camp director.
Keep counselors informed and up-to-date on camp changes or
important information. Help maintain accurate camper attendance
records, incident reports, and other necessary documentation.
Monitor and report camp equipment and supply needs. Lead
team-building activities and ensure staff morale remains high.
Recognize and celebrate camper and counselor achievements. Ensure
camp site is clean, organized, and safe. Perform additional duties
as assigned by the Camp Director or Assistant Dean of Students.
Foster a fun and positive environment for both campers and
counselors. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma. Completion
of CPR/AED/First Aid certification upon hire. Background check
completed. Completion of online United Educators Minors Training.
Experience working with children, in camps, or in related youth
programs. Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and
support a team. Ability to organize, plan, and implement camp
activities. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability
to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced
environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Camp
Counselor or in a similar role. Experience in camp program
development or recreation planning. Knowledge of child development
and behavior management strategies. Supervisory or leadership
experience in a youth program setting. Ability to adapt to diverse
camper needs and maintain a positive environment. Diversity and
